He has led medical school admissions criteria changes to create a student body that reflects Manitoba’s diverse population.
In 1999 Dr. Postl was the founding president and CEO of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, a position he held for 11 years. His other leadership roles included chair of Research Manitoba and federal advisor on health care wait times. He was inducted as a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2011, invested in the Order of Manitoba in 2012, and appointed to the Order of Canada in 2020 for his advancement of clinical and academic health care in the province where he spent his entire career. As a researcher, Dr. Postl focused on Indigenous and circumpolar health, documenting health inequities in the North.
Dr. Postl has been able to address health inequities and work toward providing care to all communities—especially our most vulnerable populations, at all levels of the health care system and across their life spans
