In 1969, Dr. Brian Hennen was one of the first 12 people to acquire the CCFP designation. Over the course of his career, he has led the Family Medicine Departments at both Dalhousie University and Western University, and was the Dean of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. He was the first chair of the Section of Teachers for the College in 1978, the first recipient of the D.I. Rice Fellowship, and President of the CFPC in 1989. During his practice career, Dr. Hennen was a member of the Independent Living Nova Scotia Board and the Eastern representative of CFPC’s national committee on developmental disabilities.
