Scholarly Work in Family Medicine Education Grant

The Scholarly Work in Family Medicine Education Grant supports academic and community-based family physician members of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) in leading projects in medical education. This grant funds scholarly work with the intent of advancing family medicine education broadly. Projects that support CFPC educational initiatives will receive special consideration.

The value of the grant is up to $8,000.

Eligibility criteria:

The applicant must be a CFPC member who has been in good standing for at least one year.

In addition, the applicant must be involved in teaching, scholarship, or leadership activities related to family medicine education. The principal investigator is required to be a practising family physician.

The team may benefit from contributions from residents, medical students, and PhD scholars, but this is not a requirement.

The project start date must be between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2026.

Applicants cannot have received this grant in the past three years.

Please visit our Guidelines for basic eligibility and additional considerations.

Taxable income:

Payments will be made in the name of the principal investigator unless indicated on the application that the funds are to be redirected to a registered charity.

Grant funds received are taxable and will be considered part of personal income in the fiscal year in which they are received. The Foundation for Advancing Family Medicine (FAFM) will issue a statement of income (T4A information slip) at the end of the year for these amounts.
