Research Grant for the Study of Communities Impacted by Health Disparities
The Research Grant for the Study of Communities Impacted by Health Disparities supports family medicine residents and physicians in conducting community-based research and producing rigorous evidence related to the health disparities prevalent in either remote, rural Canadian communities or underserved outer-city areas beyond the urban inner-city core.
The research should focus on communities that are currently underfunded in terms of scientific research. These can be either remote areas or outer-city areas. Like inner‑city areas, outer-city locations face the same socio-economic disadvantages and challenges in accessing high-quality health care; however, no real concerted efforts have been made to relieve the economic and social disparities these communities face as they have not yet been deemed critical areas of interest.
The research must be recognized as a valuable first step toward the development of strategies to reduce health disparities in the future. Preference will be given to applications that actively involve the community.
The value of this grant is up to $4,000.
