CFPC Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program Award
The CFPC Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program Award recognizes a Mainpro+® certified educational program that has provided an exceptional learning experience to either practising or practice-eligible members of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). The award will be presented to the individual or group responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the winning CPD program.
Eligibility criteria:
The CFPC Mainpro+ certified CPD program must be shown to have provided an exceptional learning experience as measured by program evaluations completed by participating CFPC members.
The program must meet the CFPC definition of an exceptional learning experience, which means it satisfies one or more of the following criteria:
- The program has been evaluated by CFPC members and determined to be of great value to the practice of family medicine
- The program addresses a new CPD topic or area of interest for family physicians and is important and relevant to the practice of family medicine
- The program successfully implemented an innovative learning tool and/or instructional model or approach, or incorporated an existing tool or instructional approach in an innovative manner
The program must be Mainpro+ certified on a national or provincial level at the time of nomination.
The program must have been certified and delivered at least once within the last two years.

Not eligible:
- Programs that have won this award in the past five years.
- Residency training programs and programs aimed at pre-licensure family physicians.
Selection process:
The CFPC’s National Committee on Continuing Professional Development will review and rank eligible programs. Post-program evaluations, completed by physicians who have participated in the program, will be used to help determine the overall score of the program.
The results will be forwarded to the national Honours and Awards Committee for final approval.
Nominees will be notified of the results formally in August.
Nomination process:
Nominations are invited from CFPC members in good standing who have done any of the following:
- Registered and participated in the nominated CPD program
- Participated actively in the development and/or delivery of the nominated CPD program
- Acted as the CFPC Mainpro+ reviewer for the nominated CPD program
Nominations are due to the CFPC National Office by 4:00 p.m. (ET) on March 9, 2026.
