Family Medicine Research Article of the Year Award
The Family Medicine Research Article of the Year Award recognizes the best research article published in a national or international journal in the past year (2025) based on original family medicine research carried out by a College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) member.
The award may be presented during Family Medicine Forum (FMF). The recipient (one individual only) will receive complimentary four-day registration to FMF. In addition, the award recipient will receive up to $2,000 to offset the costs of accommodation, meals, and travel to attend FMF.
Eligibility criteria:
At least one member of the research team, either the principal investigator or a key member, must be a College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) who has been in good standing for at least one year.
The research must be relevant to family medicine.
Only the final version of a published article is eligible.
The article must have been published between January 1st, 2025 and December 31st, 2025.
Nominees cannot have received this award in the past three years.

Nomination process:
CFPC members, Chapters members, and members of the public may nominate individuals who meet the eligibly requirements.
Nominations, which must be submitted online, are due to the CFPC National Office by 4:00 p.m. (ET) on May 25, 2026.

Selection Process:
The joint CFPC and Foundation for Advancing Family Medicine (FAFM) Honours and Awards Committee uses peer endorsements from a national review process to compile their recommendations to be approved by the CFPC and FAFM Boards of Directors.
Nominees will be formally notified of results in August.
